Rejoice always,  pray without ceasing,  give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. -- 1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18, ESV

Prayer is vital to our lives! Each week, prayers are collected through emails, discussions with each other and in worship. Why? Because God is always listening and always ready to work. We're called to pray. It's not simply a "nice idea" but the very core of our relationship with God!

Amazing! God invites us in. You're invited. We're invited together. Through prayer, we connect to God and are connected to his people and his world.

What is prayer like?

  • Prayer is like the sun on a snowy morning — it warms our dull hearts to be happy in God and find rest in His love for us. (quoted from joyinexpressible.com)
  • Prayer is like bringing an empty pail to the ocean — through prayer, God fills up our empty hearts so we can pour ourselves out in service to others. (quoted from joyinexpressible.com)
  • Abba, Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.” – Mark 14:36
  • Prayer pulls the rope down below and the great bell rings above in the ears of God. Some scarcely stir the bell, for they pray so languidly; others give only an occasional jerk at the rope. But he who communicates with heaven is the man who grasps the rope boldly and pulls continuously with all his might. - Charles Spurgeon
  • Prayer turns on the light in the darkness. (see John 8:12)
  • “To pray is to let Jesus glorify his name in the midst of our needs.” - O. Hallesby, Norwegian Theologian in a book called Prayer.

  • “The Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with sighs too deep for words.” Romans 8:26
