Dear Nokesville church family and friends,

“Let us eat and celebrate, for this son of mine was dead and is alive; he was lost and is found!” (Luke 15:23-24, NRSV)

We are part of the Global Methodist Church (GMC) that exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ and spread scriptural holiness across the globe. By God’s grace, the GMC has grown to 7,250 congregations worldwide since its launch four years ago. The GMC delegates, lay and clergy, recently gathered in South Africa for the General Conference (our denomination’s law-making body). They overwhelmingly adopted a new set of Articles of Faith to express our shared beliefs in continuity with the historic Christian faith and Wesleyan tradition. They also elected eight bishops to oversee 55 annual conferences for the next six years (2026-2032). Rev. Dr. Jerry Kulah, a Liberian pastor, has been elected Bishop of Episcopal Area 5, a jurisdiction that covers Africa, Europe, and the US, including Virginia. I pray that Global Methodists will remain steadfastly loyal to Jesus Christ, uphold the authority of Scripture, and restore a church revival movement anointed and ignited by the Holy Spirit.

Great news: We’ve finally received county approval of both the architectural and civil plans for our elevator and building expansion project. Praise the Lord. “This is a huge move forward,” said Tom. We’re currently bidding our project with 3 general contractors and should have the bids soon. Ten of our church members voluntarily serve on the Building Committee, chaired by Bill Cabrera and Al Kitchen. We pray for God’s guidance and wisdom as we prayerfully seek God’s will and boldly join in His work.

Thanks to your generous and sacrificial offering, we carry out kingdom purposes. May the Lord continue to bless and strengthen us so that we may glorify His name through this special building project. In case you may wonder what’s been happening to our new church sign near the road, we’ve received PWC zoning approval of the new sign. We still need the PWC building department to approve the structural design. God is good all the time.

This fall, we journey into the parables of Jesus. Last Sunday, we were invited to examine what kind of soil we are. You can watch it at Sermons | Nokesville Methodist Church – Bible Teaching in Nokesville VA. This Sunday, September 13, we will explore the story of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-20). I hope to see you all soon on the Lord’s day.
