Dear Nokesville church family and friends,

“The human mind may devise many plans, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will be established” (Proverbs 19:21, NRSV).

This Lent, we’ve been delving into the spiritual realities of experiencing God. Here’re just a few phrases from Experiencing God (by Pastor Henry Blackaby) that capture my attention:

“God is always at work around you.” This is the first reality of experiencing God. How often do we lose sight of it in our daily lives? What a difference would it make if we became more aware of God’s activity around us?

“Watch to see where God is at work and join Him.” How often do we tend to take matters into our own hands and attempt to achieve our goals for God’s glory to the best of our capacity? What a difference would it make if we patiently waited to hear from God, watched to see where God is at work, and boldly joined Him in what He is doing?

“God’s revelation is your invitation.” When the Holy Spirit opens our spiritual eyes to see where God is at work, that is the moment when we must respond to God’s call with trust and obedience, with the conviction that God is who He says He is and will do what He says He will do.

“If you have an obedience problem in your relationship with God, you have a love problem.” If we have difficulty obeying the Lord, we must fix our love problem with the help of the Holy Spirit, because we will surely obey Him when we love Him wholeheartedly.

Last Sunday, we explored the fourth spiritual reality of experiencing God: God speaks to you by the Holy Spirit. You can watch it at Nokesville Methodist Church - YouTube. This Sunday, March 22, we will explore the fifth spiritual reality: God’s invitation always leads you to a crisis of belief where you must decide (Genesis 12:1-3; Hebrews 11:8; 1 Corinthians 1:27-30). I hope to see you all soon on the Lord’s day.
