Dear Nokesville church family and friends,
“They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me; and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them” (John 14:21, NRSV).
I am deeply grateful for serving the Lord with our dedicated church leaders. Our dear brother Paul O’Meara recently stepped down as Chair of the Communications & Outreach Committee after serving faithfully for over two years. On behalf of our congregation, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Paul for all his efforts in helping us walk through the transitional time. Our God is Jehovah Jireh – the Lord will provide. Our dear sister Sandy Boone has stepped up to lead the ministry team now called “Communications, Outreach & Evangelism.” She was unanimously recommended by the Nominations Committee and approved by the Church Council last Monday. We are so blessed to have godly Christians among us, who are passionate for Christ and compassionate for others. Praise the Lord.
This Lent, we are encouraged to be fully soaked with the spiritual biblical realities of experiencing God, as we journey together for forty days. Many of us – about half of our regular worship attendants – participate in our weekly Lenten study group gathering on Wednesdays, where people share their reflections and perspectives, which enrich each other’s faith. I recently had a chance to chat with one of our dear sisters about our Lenten study. She mentioned that she really enjoyed the book Experiencing God and was trying to get as much insight and inspiration as possible from the book. That is what I’ve been trying to do as well. I want to encourage you to take spiritual vitamin C from our Lenten study and sermon series so that we all may be equipped with common spiritual language and boldly move in the same direction as we watch to see where God is at work and join Him. I’m sensing that God is on the move, and so should we.
Last Sunday, we explored the third spiritual reality of experiencing God: God graciously invites you to join Him in what He is doing. You can watch it at Nokesville Methodist Church - YouTube. This Sunday, March 15, we will explore the fourth spiritual reality: God speaks to you by the Holy Spirit (John 16:13-14; 1 Corinthians 2:9-11; Psalm 33:10-11).
I hope to see you all soon on the Lord’s day.
Your brother in Christ,
Sung Yoo
