Dear Nokesville church family and friends,

“The human mind plans the way, but the Lord directs the steps” (Proverbs 16:9, NRSV).

I do not know how to convey to you this sense of excitement I am experiencing over what has been happening in the life of our Nokesville congregation. To expand our ministry capacity, we are hiring new staff. Zoe, our new Church Administrative Coordinator, now works at the church office 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday to Thursday. While handling day-to-day office work, she will strengthen our internal and external communications, including our church website, and help us take full advantage of the church management system called Breeze.

Also, we are about to hire a sound technician (another young adult!) to enhance our in-person and online worship experiences. We expect that a sound expert will help us fully activate our AV equipment and elevate the sound quality of our services, in-person and online, to a new level.

What’s more, we have been praying for an Accompanist. Thanks to the grace of God, we have received applications. The Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) is expected to make prayerful decisions soon on behalf of our congregation. Jehovah Jireh – the Lord will provide! I am savoring this exciting moment as I count our blessings. God is good all the time, indeed.

This past Lent, we were reminded that God is always at work around us, so we must watch to see where God is at work and join Him. It appears to me that God has been sending us young adults for spiritual care and nurture. When God honors our church by placing new members and visitors in our midst, we need to ask God to show us what He is up to. Isn’t God calling us to get ready to mentor and disciple our younger brothers and sisters? Their presence will not only generate fresh oxygen in our body of Christ but also energize us as we strengthen their faith. We will celebrate mutual blessings together.

We are given a second chance to experience spiritual awakening and restore a Spirit-led revival movement by making the most of a God-generated momentum so that we may lay a strong spiritual foundation to raise up a new generation of faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.

To support the spiritual growth of our congregation, we’ve been dreaming a God-inspired dream to expand our church building, along with the installation of an elevator. Thankfully,  several of our church members have stepped up to serve on the building committee. We pray for God’s mighty movement through us, as our building project will help us expand the physical capacity of our ministries.

I am deeply grateful for witnessing great things unfolding in the life of our beloved church family. Thank you, Lord.

We’ve been delving into the Apostles’ Creed. Last Sunday, we explored the resurrection of the body. You can watch it at Nokesville Methodist Church - Sermons. This Sunday, June 21, as we will celebrate Father’s Day to honor our earthly fathers and our heavenly Father, we will explore what eternal life is (John 3:3; Romans 5:1, 6:22-23). I hope to see you all soon on the Lord’s day.

Your brother in Christ,

Sung Yoo
